Beginning Sound GameTell your child that the following words start with the /kw/ sound: queen, quiet and quickly. Can he or she tell which of the words in the list below start with the /kw/ sound? alligator backpack

Alligator LanguageRemind your child of how the Queen had said that learning the Alligator language would help Ti and Mo begin to read. Take out the Separator Alligator stick puppet. Say the words in the list below broken apart in the way the Alligator would say them. Hold up one finger for each sound in the word, then point to each finger as you say each sound. Have your child try to tell you each word as normally spoken. If your child gets stuck on a word, show the child how to blend the sounds together (like the Slowtalker) saying the sounds slightly faster and faster until the child can recognize the word.
