Beginning Sound Game

Tell the child that the following words start with the /w/ sound:  wiggle, worm and went. Have your child listen for this sound and indicate with thumbs up when he or she hears it.

Vowel Sound Matching

Take out the stick puppets for all the vowels--a, e, i, o and u (or write these letters on a paper).  Say the words in the list below, emphasizing the vowel sound in each word.  Signal your child with your hand when to listen.  Have your child touch the puppet that makes the sound heard in each word.

Ending Sound Game

Tell your child that the following words end with the /ks/ sound:  fox, box and six. Have your child listen for this sound and indicate with thumbs up when he or she hears it.

Ending Sound Matching

Take out the stick puppets for the letters l, p, r and x (or write the letters), putting them where your child can touch each one.  Say to your child the words in the list below and have your child touch the letter which is the ending sound of the word.
